RECEIVERS WITH NETWORK SEARCH VS. BLIND SEARCH

Network Search looks up the frequency table of the satellite, giving you immediate and full inventory of the various feeds that appear regularly. In practice, many standard receivers need to be updated with software, just as someone would need to add a bookmark to your browser. When you turn on the Network feature of any Topfield receiver, the receiver will not only look up the satellite trransponder frequencies, but also find any new ones added since your last search. In addition,

Blind search is a quite more thorough. Think of it as similar to when you do a chkdsk on all each data clusters on your hard drive to check for integrity. Blind search asks you the range of frequencies you wish to scan, then proceeds to look at all possible variations of each frequency. This is the most thorough way to find all channels on your satellite and its transponders. The drawback is that it can also take you days, even weeks to run a full satellite scan. You will find large amounts of feeds just as a spectrum analyzer would, but often they are temporary and not very useful, but there are gems.

Blind search is for the true satellite hobbyist, while the network search is suitable for almost everyone.

DVB cards give you satellite TV and digital tv in a way you never could! A single DVB PCI card on your PC can offer more features than a Personal Video Recorder PVR like Tivo or DishPlayer, scheduling and recording of satellite TV and digital tv shows in digital quality.

Imagine having access to almost all Free-to-Air satellite feeds in digital quality with a DVB PCI card that can connect to your big screen tv and the digital coax connection on your sound system to receive AC3 Dolby Surround Sound.

Maybe you want to record shows and save them. With a DVB card, it's simple. Schedule and record, then burn on DVD if you like. Or maybe you want to view up to six satellite channels at once. A DVB card let's you do this.

The software for DVB cards such as the Hauppauge Nexus-S, Nova, Nova CI and Twinhan (VisionPlus) cards is simple to use, including profiles for almost every satellite around the world.

Satellite tv is moving to the desktop, and offering you features that can only be found on pricey satellite receivers.
